Do you enjoy history?

The Lemon Grove Historical Society (LGHS) is actively seeking volunteers. We are an all-volunteer organization, so we know something about volunteerism. Volunteers, such as our museum docents and board members, are very important to LGHS.

Open Positions

We are currently seeking volunteers to fill the following positions:

Vice President, Membership Become a member of the Board of Directors (one meeting a month); Mail out annual renewals; keep track of the membership database; help us grow our membership.
Museum Docent Work one Saturday a month in the Parsonage Museum from 11AM to 2PM.
Archival Maintenance Assist the archivist on Saturday morning a month from 9AM to 12 noon.
Rose Gardener Work one morning a month to dead-head the roses, and keep our garden tidy. We supply gloves and clippers.
Special Events Perform various duties during special events, including ticket-taking, serving, set-up, and strike.

Do you have another skill?

If you have a skill that you would like to make available to the Society, please let us know. Some of our most valued volunteers are:

  • Photographers
  • Event Planners
  • Party Hosts
  • Handymen and Handywomen
  • Craft or Trade Professionals
  • Furniture Restorers
  • Storytellers
  • And many others who volunteer from time to time on special projects – some of their own design and making.

We welcome anyone who wants to contribute occasionally, or more often to further our historic preservation mission.

Get Involved – Volunteer!

We encourage you to attend an upcoming lecture or visit the museum to get a sense of what we do. Most volunteer opportunities involve just one morning a month, usually a Saturday, but other days can be arranged.
