Eyewitness to History

The Lemon Grove Historical Society and its cultural partner, the Lemon Grove Library, return with a riveting “Remembrance Project” on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 pm in the library, 3001 School Lane. Veteran soldier Lou De Beer will be back by popular demand to present “Eyewitness to History: Childhood Under the Nazi Occupation.” Never-before-seen news footage of the Nazis marching into Lou’s hometown, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, with music and further footage of the beleaguered city punctuate his matter-of-fact recounting of his family’s suffering during WW II.
Once safely in America, Lou served his adopted country in the Marine Corps and fought in Korea. His distinguished military career resulted in, among other recognition, the Coronado Avenue of Heroes Award.
The Remembrance Project explores the impact of mighty world events on the individual–who so often prove to be brave beyond brave. Please join us for this memorable afternoon.
